Survival Planning for Children

What is Survival Planning for Children?

Survival preparedness includes helping your children to prepare for survival situations. Keep in mind that your children do not have the same physical capabilities you have and may not know what to do in survival situations.

So how can you prepare your children achieve survival preparedness? First, start with a survival plan. Sit down with your children and explain the plan in detail. Help them to understand their role in the plan and what to do in various disaster scenarios. Practice survival techniques with them so they are comfortable with the appropriate survival methods.

Next, show your children your survival kits and how to use the supplies inside. Practice using the supplies with your children so they learn how to use them. Explain to them when they are to be used and where the survival kits will be stored in your house.

Include items for children in your survival kit such as coloring books and other items that will keep their morale high and help distract them from the situation. A great item you can include in your survival kit is candy. Though it is not very nutritional, it will help keep your children happy and emotionally safe.
