72 Hour Kit for Survival Preparedness
How to Make a 72 Hour Kit for Survival Preparedness
Natural disasters don’t take second chances. When something bad is about to happen, it just happens. What matters is that are you and your family, prepared to survive for the first 72 hours? Are you going to wait like others, for a nomad rescue team that may or may not spot you down in the first three days? Are you willing to risk it all and suggest that it was just fate’s way of treating people? Of course not and any sane person would cling to a survival preparedness kit for that very purpose.
During any emergency situation, you may be cut off from the outside world for more than 3 or 4 days. Therefore, a simple reliance on prayers and hope isn’t enough because you need a well loaded survival kit. Having said that, you may ask yourself the following questions: What are the main elements of a 72 hours survival backpack? What sort of measures need to be considered?
Read on for some enlightening tips and details…
- Food and Eateries:
o Stick to quality food items in time of emergency survival preparedness. Do NOT go for pizzas, bagels and vanity items because they don’t make up for vitamins and much needed calories. In fact, you should prefer using granola bars, nuts ‘n dry fruit, protein shakes, chocolate and quick meals.
- Water:
o An important component of a 72 hour survival kit is water. A typical survival bag or a 3 day bug out bag comes with enough pockets to house a large number of water bottles. If you don’t have a bag, then you can make one on your own. However while you’re at it, please consider taking collapsible water containers, purification tablets and large clear water bags.
- Tube Tents:
o A survival backpack is not complete without tube tents. These products are easily foldable and are small enough to fit inside your backpack. Other components of a 72 hour kit are: ponchos, clothes, sleeping bags and blankets.
- Light Source:
o When was the last time you had a working oil lamp, light battery or a flashlight besides you? Keep one flashlight with you 24/7, while you can count on your survival backpack to tout out solar powered lights, flashlight radios and etc.
The above items merely scratched the surface. You can add or subtract more items as per your area’s climatic topography, personal needs and general obligations.
